An Essential Guide for Navigating the Golden Years

“As someone who has many elderly loved ones, this was exactly the book I was looking for! I devoured it. Berg has written a comprehensive and deeply personal exploration of aging in modern society. As both a renowned communication coach and a Senior Orphan herself, she provides valuable insights into the unique communication challenges of growing older. It also serves as a guide for families of those growing older. Through a blend of personal anecdotes, proven communication techniques, and motivational wisdom, Berg equips her readers with the tools needed to understand and improve the lives of aging individuals. Her approach is informative and compassionate, recognizing the complex emotions and dynamics at play with aging.

One of the book's core strengths is its focus on Senior Orphans—a group that often goes unnoticed. Berg offers specific strategies and thoughtful considerations for these individuals, making "Senior Moment" a pivotal resource in the field of elder care.”

This book is for all generations

“I began to read this book because my parents are well into their senior years, and I wanted to learn more about the issues they face. Though both are still active and working, they each have health issues which have slowed them down. I (naively) assumed that the right questions to ask about aging, or what most people think about, have to do with retirement- finances, Medicare, and social security. What/when does retirement look like? Will they have enough money to retire comfortably? Do they even want to retire, or do they still have much to give? Boy was I wrong!

Senior Moment is a comprehensive life assessment of the elements of living they must manage as they age. What challenges do they face? What opportunities are available to them? Is ageism real? Who will take care of them? Will others understand their wants and needs? Will they have to downsize or move? How do they deal with the loss of a loved one? Do they lose self-esteem as their appearance changes? Are they taking care of their bodies, nutrition, and health? And most importantly, do they have connections in place with a social network comprised of friends, family, and other support systems?”

Great resource for seniors and those who love them

“I am not a senior but I bought this book for my octogenarian aunt. I ended up reading it before passing to her and was delighted to discover how helpful it would be for her but also for me! It’s information packed. It gave me an “insider’s perspective” on the joys and anxieties of being older, which helps me be more empathetic and patient about what she’s dealing with. My parents are both gone, so she’s like a mom to me, and I think this book will empower her to have a better life experience while helping me support her as best I can—and allow us to have a better relationship. Highly recommended!”

Am loving this book

“I started reading this book and it has already had a major effect on me. I am a homebody and live in a cocoon and after reading the first chapter I was pushed out of my comfort zone and am forcing myself to go out into the world and interact with more people. I'm truly grateful for this book.

I'm updating this review because I want to focus on the book itself. It is very well written, well organized, clear and an easy read which is important in non-fiction to keep the reader engaged. The way Ms. Berg is so open about her own personal issues and how they relate to the subject matter makes the reader feel like you have a friend at your side sharing information and encouragement to help you grow and improve your senior life.”
